Toccoa-Hart County to Meet in 12U Final Monday Night

Hart County avoided elimination in the 12U District 7 Tournament by defeating Toccoa 11-2 Sunday afternoon in Hartwell.

Hart County’s 11 runs came on just 7 hits and was aided by 9 walks, one hit batter, and three errors.

Hart County led 5-0 after the top of the 2nd, but Toccoa got 4 hits in a row, including RBI’s from Caden Hamilton and Seth Stonecypher to cut the lead to 5-2.

After those two runs it was all Hart County scoring 3 runs in each of the 3rd and 4th innings.

Hart County’s MJ Miller was outstanding on the mound pitching 5 1/3 innings to get the win. Miller helped his own cause at the plate with 3 RBI’s and Major Blackwell hit a 3-run home run.

The two teams will get together for the 3rd time in the tournament on Monday night with the winner to be crowned District 7 Champion. The game will be broadcast live on WNEG with airtime set for 6:45 P.M. and fist pitch at 7 P.M.

The Toccoa 10U team stayed alive in the state tournament at West Point by thrashing Peachtree City 15-2 Sunday evening. The Toccoa team had lost 11-8 to Elbert County earlier in the day. Toccoa will face Smyrna Blue in an elimination game on Monday night at 6:30 P.M.

Two other Toccoa Little League teams were eliminated in state competition on Sunday.

The Toccoa Senior League team fell 8-7 to Oconee County at Doyle Street Park. it was the second loss for Toccoa after falling to Jones County 7-5 on Saturday. Oconee County will now face Jones County on Monday at 7 P.M. with the winner forced to beat Rockmart twice to win the state title.

The Toccoa Little League 12U Softball team fell twice in Warner-Robins losing to Dudley 21-1, and Harris County 7-3.
