Toccoa-Hart County Meet for Junior Title Tonight-Franklin Takes 12U Title

Franklin County’s 12 and under Little League baseball team won the District 7 championship by going undefeated in three games at Doyle Street Park, after beating Hart County 5-2 Thursday night, Franklin County defeated Toccoa’s All-stars 5-2 Friday.

Pitching was key for both teams as Franklin County managed only three hits and Toccoa only got two hits. Brian Waldrop didn’t get a hit but drove in the only run for Toccoa with a ground out. Kain Winkfield had two RBIs for Franklin County.

Toccoa got back on the win track Saturday with a 13-3 win over Hart County, eliminating Hart County from the tournament.

Sunday belonged to Franklin County as they defeated Toccoa 11-2. John DiNapoli and Kain Winkfield each drove in two runs for Franklin County, while DiNapoli hit for the cycle. Hudson Huff was the winning pitcher for Franklin, Carmelo Renfro started and took the loss for Toccoa.

Franklin County will advance to the State Little League Tournament, starting July 17th in Cartersville.

Toccoa’s Junior League baseball team managed to stay alive in their best two out of three match-up with Hart County.

Hart County defeated Toccoa 5-0 at the Senior League Field Saturday in which Toccoa
outhit Hart County ,but couldn’t get anyone across the plate. Toccoa left 14 men on base in that game. Lucas Fritz drove in three runs for Hart County.

Toccoa’s bats came alive Sunday, scoring 7 runs in the third inning and then cruising to a 12-4 victory over Hart County.

The best two out of three series continues tonight at the Senior League Field. Game
time will be at 6:30 P.M. and airtime on WNEG Radio will be at 6:15 P.M.
