As reported by WNEG News previously, Shelter Board members voted in early June to terminate the employment of former Shelter Executive Director Jeff Roberts, effective June 30.
The move to terminate Roberts comes after his arrest by the GBI in early May on charges of neglect to a disabled adult, elder person, or resident.
Also during Monday’s Toccoa City Commission meeting, Commissioner Terry Carter announced that painting is underway at Toccoa City Hall.

Also, City Manager Fredda Wheeler advised Commissioners during yesterday’s meeting about work that will be starting at the Toccoa Stephens County Airport to replace all airport lighting, and Commissioners approved the city’s portion of funding for the project, which had been included in last fiscal year’s budget, but due to scheduling delays with state and federal agencies, the project was delayed and the project forwarded to this fiscal year’s budget.

WNEG News spoke with airport manager Amber McCall following the meeting to learn about the project parameters and any disruption of service at the airport.
