Toccoa 11U Take Game One-10U Advances

The Toccoa 11 and under Little League All-Stars won the opening game of the best of three District 7 championship series defeating Hart County 8-2 Tuesday night in Hartwell.

Duke Collins was outstanding on the mound pitching 5 2/3 innings and allowing only 2 runs on six hits while striking out 8. Isaiah Patterson got the final out of the game for Toccoa on a strikeout.

Collins was also instrumental at the plate with two triples, two RBI’s and scoring two runs. Lincoln Hicks also scored twice for Toccoa, and Dylan Elrod, Caden Hamilton, Blakely King and Langston Brooks scored. King and Seth Stonecypher also had RBI’s.

Toccoa led 2-0 after three innings and blew the game open with 5 runs in the 4th on just one hit.

Toccoa can clinch the District 7 Championship with a win Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7 P.M. with airtime set for 6:45 P.M. on WNEG.

The Toccoa 10 and under All-Stars is one of the final two teams left in the District 7 Tournament after an exciting 8-7 come from behind victory over Hart County on Tuesday night.

Toccoa trailed 7-3 late in the game, but came back to tie it heading to the final inning. In the top of the 6th, Hart County loaded the bases with no outs, but Toccoa’s Zaiden McCullough was able to pick up key strikeouts and pitch his way out of the inning without a run scoring.

In the bottom of the 6th, Toccoa’s Brant Smith worked a bases loaded walk to score the winning run.

Toccoa will face Franklin County on Wednesday night at 7 P.M. Franklin County can win the title with a victory. If Toccoa wins, the championship game will be on Thursday.
