Three SCHS Indian Football players sign to play football at college

Three Stephens County Indian football players will be taking their athletic talents to the college level.  All three seniors held signing ceremonies at the high school Wednesday afternoon.

Cory Richie, son of Christa Richie and Victor Oglesby, signed with the new football program at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina.  Cory was a defensive back and receiver this past season for the Indians.  He was named honorable mention to A-J-C and Recruit Georgia All-State Teams, and was the Region 8-AAA Two-Way Player of the Year.

Cory plans to study business at Anderson University, and he says when he toured the campus, it felt like home.

Cam Lacy, son of Clarrisa Lacy, signed with Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  Cam was a receiver, defensive back, and returned punts and kickoffs for the Indians.  He was named the Region 8-AAA Athlete of the Year for both 2021 and 2022; A-J-C and Recruit Georgia 1st Team All-State; had over 3,000 yards and 32 career touchdowns; and was named the WNEG Player of the Year.

Cam says a former Stephens County Indian who is an assistant coach on Middle Tennessee’s staff, Dustin Royston, played a major role in his decision.

Cam plans to major in business at Middle Tennessee State.

Ritt Tankersley, son of Bree and Head Coach Wesley Tankersley, signed to play at University of the Cumberlands at Williamsburg, Kentucky.  Ritt was the middle linebacker for the Indians and led the team in total tackles.  He was named 2nd Team All-Region as a junior and 1st Team All-Region as a senior and made Honorable Mention All-State for Recruit Georgia.

Ritt says he believes he can be successful at Unversity of the Cumberlands.

Ritt plans to study secondary education and someday become a teacher and coach.
