There’s still time to register for the March of Dimes’ annual Super Hero 5K
In a world where birth defects, premature births, and infant mortality affect over 400,000 babies born each year, a group of super heroes have joined together to fight to save babies everywhere.
You too, can be a hero by attending the Stephens/Franklin County March of Dimes’ Annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk.
On Saturday, September 28, come be a hero by supporting the March of Dimes and their mission to help save babies by competing in the 5K race, held at Boyd Field in Toccoa.
Leon Womack is the co-chair for Stephens County’s March of Dimes. He says this 5K is unique because it’s a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
“We’ll have a 5K run, as we always do, it’s the Super Hero 5K Run. Registration starts at 8 and the 5K run starts at 9 a.m.,” Womack said. “We’ll have a bouncy house out there for the kids, and we’ll have a 100-yard dash for the little kids; now, if you’re 21-years-or-older you can’t run in this little 100-yard dash. But, it’ll be a great day. It’s a great 5K run, and it’s a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, so if you’re looking for a time for Peachtree, it’s a great one to run.”
Womack encourages the community to come out and enjoy a fun-filled day for the entire family.
The cost to register is $25.
He says the 5K run/walk will benefit Stephens/Franklin County March of Dimes.
“The money goes to the March of Dimes; but, also, it helps in our community, for people who have premature births. Sometimes they have to go back and forth to the hospital and we can help them with some of their expenses,” Womack said.
Again, registration begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, and the 5K begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.
And remember, if you’re looking to secure your spot in the Peachtree Road Race, this course is a USATF Certified Qualifying Race.
Womack invites everyone to dress up as their favorite superhero or to create their own.
