TFC Men Fall At Phillips In 2 OT’s

The TFC men’s basketball comes up just short in a special game at a special site.

Toccoa Falls played NCAA Division III school LaGrange College Tuesday at Phillips Arena, the home of the Atlanta Hawks.

The Screaming Eagle men led late in regulation, but LaGrange came back and defeated TFC in double overtime, 87-82.

Jon Sauls had 21 points and 7 rebounds for the Screaming Eagles.

TFC also got three double-doubles as Zach Barrett had 10 points and 13 rebounds, Derek Westfall had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Josh Folwell had 13 points and 10 boards.

Josh Barrett added 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists for TFC.

About the game, TFC men’s head coach Jason Mehl said it was a great experience to be part of such an exciting and well-fought basketball game.

Mehl added that they had tremendous support from the fans who traveled to see the team play in Phillips Arena.

Next up for the TFC men, who are 6-4 on the season, is NCAA Division I Gardner Webb on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a trip to Columbia International University on Saturday.
