TCC will set millage rate at Monday’s meeting

The Toccoa City Commission will meet on Monday, July 25, for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will start at 5:00 p.m. inside the City Commission/Court Room at Toccoa City Hall.

The Commission will consider Local Option Sales Tax Certificate of Distribution and will set the tax millage rate for 2022.

For the LOST Certificate, it shows that the current distribution percentages being used within Stephens County is Stephens County Board of Commissioners are allocated 63.51 percent, the Town of Martin receives 1.23 percent, and the City of Toccoa receives 35.26 percent of LOST funding.

In regard to the tax millage rate, the City Commission is considering a 5.6 millage rate which is lower than 2021’s millage rate for the city.

As WNEG News reported earlier this week, Toccoa Mayor Jeanette Jamieson announced that when making the budget for Fiscal Year 2023, the City Commission did not see any need to increase the tax liability on city residents.

“When we were developing the budget and so forth, we knew that we had that to look at. Of course, when doing the rollback, what it actually did was it ensures the taxpayers in Toccoa didn’t have an increase in property tax,” she said.

Again, the Toccoa City Commission will meet on Monday, July 25, for its regular scheduled meeting inside the City Commission/Court Room at Toccoa City Hall.
