TCC will meet today for its regular scheduled meeting

The Toccoa City Commission will meet this evening for its regular scheduled meeting.

Today’s meeting will be conducted by teleconference beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting can dial in at 706-898-5160. After dialing in, you’ll be prompted to input the code 790453.

Up for discussion includes the consideration of a proclamation designating November 1 as Retired Educators Day, and a presentation from the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce concerning the continuation of the NextSite Consulting Agreement.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has proclaimed November 1, 2020 as Retired Educators Day in Georgia; and therefore, the city will also follow suit with its own proclamation.

There are more than 135,000 retired educations in Georgia, with over 31,000 of them being members of the Georgia Retired Educators Association.

Because retired educators of Georgia donate thousands of hours of volunteer service and make invaluable contributions to the welfare of the respective communities across the state, the Toccoa City Commission feel that is appropriate that a day be designated for citizens to express their appreciation for the contributions that retired educators have made and continue to make for the betterment of human lives and for society.

For the update from the Chamber, Chamber President Julie Paysen says the presentation will discuss the continuation of the community partnership with NextSite Consulting.

She says this has been the agreement for the past 3 years, and they have the option to partner with them over the next 3 years for $9,500 per year, shared by the City and County equally.

Paysen says the data collected by NextSite Consulting has been a tremendous asset for the community.

Again, anyone wishing to attend today’s meeting at 5:00 p.m. can dial in at 706-898-5160.

After dialing in, you’ll be prompted to input the code 790453.
