TCC will consider Entertainment District Ordinance during meeting this evening

The Toccoa City Commission will meet this afternoon for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will be conducted by teleconference. Anyone wishing to attend the meeting can dial-in at 706-898-5160. After dialing in, you’ll be prompted to input the code 790453.

Up for discussion is a public hearing for the consideration of an Entertainment District Ordinance, a Mobile Food Venders Ordinance, and a Proclamation for Toccoa’s Arbor Day.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, the Downtown Development Authority recommends the Toccoa City Commission approve an Entertainment District Ordinance and a Food Truck Ordinance.

An Entertainment District is an overlay which allows for downtown patrons to consume alcoholic beverages on city sidewalks and in retail businesses as long as the beverages are obtained from a licensed alcoholic beverage vendor within the bounds of the Entertainment District.

The beverages must be displayed in a clear, plastic 16-ounce cup to which a specialty sticker is attached, and which notes the date of use written by the providing business.

The entertainment district would be bounded by Broad Street to Hill Street and Tugalo Street to Foreacre Street.

The Food Truck Ordinance, according to Morse, requires the state-mandated use of a commissary for the safe preparation and handling of items to be sold on all food trucks.

It also requires food trucks to remain up to Georgia code, and clarifies where food trucks may operate within the city limits.

The proclamation for Toccoa’s Arbor Day, if approved, would designate February 26, 2021 as Arbor Day in Toccoa.

Again, the Toccoa City Commission will meet today at 5 p.m. for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will be conducted by teleconference. Anyone wishing to attend the meeting can dial-in at 706-898-5160. After dialing in, you’ll be prompted to input the code 790453.
