TCC set millage rate for 2022, property tax bills will be mailed on September 15

The Toccoa City Commission has approved the 2022 millage rate for the residents of Toccoa.

On Monday, during the commission’s regular scheduled meeting, City Manager Billy Morse presented the proposed millage rate of 5.6 mills, which is lower than the 2021 millage rate.

As WNEG News previously reported, Toccoa Mayor Jeanette Jamieson told WNEG that when making the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget the commission didn’t see a need in increasing Toccoa resident’s tax liability.

“When we were developing the budget and so forth, we knew that we had that to look at. Of course, when doing the rollback, what it actually did was it ensures the taxpayers in Toccoa didn’t have an increase in property tax,” she said.

Commissioner Evan Hellenga made a motion approving the millage rate with Vice Mayor David Austin seconding the motion.

The motion was approved 4-0 with Commissioner Terry Carter being absent.

Smart Fusion, the software provider for city property taxes, will mail out property tax bills on September 15.

Property taxes will be due on November 15, 2022.
