TCC, SCBC approves agreement for Airport Lighting Project

The Toccoa City Commission and the Stephens County Board of Commissioners recently approved motions for an agreement for airport engineering design and planning assistance funding.

Last week, the Toccoa City Commission met for its regular scheduled meeting; during which City Manager Billy Morse explained that the Toccoa-Stephens County Airport’s airfield needed to have its entire airfield lighting system replaced.

He says the current system has been in place since 1992.

Toccoa-Stephens County Airport Manager Amber McCall told the City Commission that the local share of the expense will be paid entirely by remaining CARES grant funding.

A motion approving the agreement was made by Vice-Mayor Gail Fry with Commissioner Evan Hellenga seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.

Then, during the Stephens County Board of Commissioner’s meeting, County Administrator Christian Hamilton explained that the county would need to approve the agreement as well.

A motion approving the agreement was made by Vice-Chair Tara Simmons with Commissioner Debbie Whitlock seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
