TCC ratifies Hotel-Motel Excise Tax Ordinance

The Toccoa City Commission ratified its recently enacted ordinances pertaining to Hotel-Motel Excise Tax for the purpose of codification.

On Monday, City Attorney John Dickerson explained to the Commission that the Hotel-Motel Excise Tax Ordinance needed to be ratified for the codification process.

He says the ordinance aligns the City of Toccoa with the Official Code of Georgia.

As WNEG News previously reported, in November, the Commission adopted the ordinance.

At that meeting, City Manager Billy Morse stressed that this is not a new tax; but, rather ensures the city ordinances match that of the official Code of Georgia.

During Monday’s meeting, Commissioner Gail Fry made a motion approving the ratification of the Hotel-Motel Excise Tax Ordinance and waived the second reading.

Commissioner Evan Hellenga seconded Fry’s motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
