Swenson signs to play baseball at Gordon State

Davis Swenson, a senior starting pitcher for the Stephens County Indians baseball team, held a signing ceremony last Friday.

He’ll be attending and playing baseball for Gordon State, a junior college in Barnesville, Ga.

Davis is the son of Chad and Minda Swenson.

He was a member of the Indians varsity baseball team for three seasons.

In 2018, he was named 1^st team All-Region and made 2^nd team All-State.

When he was not pitching, Davis played 1^st base and led the team in hitting.

Davis says he had other options, but Gordon State was right for him.

“I had a lot of options, I could either go Division One or Division Two baseball. But then junior college came up at the end of my recruitment process, and it seemed like the best fit for me. Once I went to Gordon (State) and visited, I knew it was the place for me. I knew I could go there for two years and get some playing time as a Freshmen and develop a little,” Davis said.

Davis plans to major in business management.
