Sutton to be inducted into GAB Hall of Fame

Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting’s Art Sutton president and CEO is an inductee for the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame Class of 2018.

The 2018 Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame inductees showcase the best in broadcasting across the state of Georgia with honorees from large and smaller markets in radio and television.

Sutton has been a Georgia broadcaster for over 40 years and an owner of radio stations in Georgia, including WNEG, and South Carolina for over 30 years.

Sutton told WNEG News about his enthusiasm for this accolade.

“It’s great. I believe it shows how well our Managers, News Directors, and on-air people do. They’re the ones who are out in front of the community. So it shows the hard work of the people who make up our company,” he said.

He currently owns 17 stations in small markets throughout the Southeast.

Sutton recalled being a child and always being interested in radio.

“I don’t remember the exact moment I was drawn to radio, but I do remember being a child, at 9 or 10-years-old playing with my older sister and we would pretend we were running a radio station,” he said.

He continued to explain that in order to achieve your dream it takes a lot of hard work.

The 2018 induction ceremony will take place on Jan. 25, 2018 with a noon luncheon at the Richard B. Russell Special Collections Library on the University of Georgia campus.
