Structure Fire on North Hicks Road

Around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, February 9, Stephens County 911 received reports of a structure fire in the 500 block of North Hicks Road.

Carnes Creek Fire, New Hope Fire, Tates Creek Fire, Stephens County EMS, and Stephens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area.

Once first units arrived on scene, they found a building fully involved with fire and the woods surrounding the building on fire as well.

Firefighters established a plan, one crew began attacking the structure fire, and another crew began extinguishing the woods fire.

Firefighters were quickly able to get both fires under control and were on scene for an extended period of time extinguishing hotspots.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a control burn that became out of control.

No injuries were reported.
