Storytime at the Currahee Military Museum

The Currahee Military Museum invites kids to a special hiSTORYtime on Saturday, August 8, says Andrea Dalrymple, Executive Director of the Stephens County Museum and Currahee Military Museum.  

“We’re so excited at the Currahee Military Museum to start the first Currahee storytime. It will be in the museum, the second Saturday of each month from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and after the story, we will have a hands-on activity. It will be for ages 5-10 as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. And in honor of National Airborne Day, we will do this on Saturday, August 8th. It will be our first storytime in the museum, and the book will be about the Band of Brothers, and how the paratroopers that trained right here in Toccoa helped save the world. The kids will get to make a parachute for their activity.”   

This program is free for children aged 5-10. 

This month’s book is ‘How Easy Company Became a Band of Brothers”, written by Chris Langlois and illustrated by Anneke Helleman.

There will be books for purchase in the gift shop. 

The Stephens County History Museum and Currahee Military Museum is located at 160 North Alexander Street in Downtown Toccoa. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more at toccoahistory.org.
