Stolen truck recovered damaged, inoperable

Toccoa police continue their investigation in a recent Grand Theft Auto case.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on the morning of April 13, a gold 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck was taken from 49 Letourneau Drive, in Toccoa.

The owner, Hunter Lee told officers he did not leave the key in the vehicle.

Mize says around 4 p.m., the same day, a Stephens County Deputy advised dispatch that the vehicle had been located in the area of Panther Creek off of Yonah Dam Road.

The deputy advised that no key had been found in the ignition.

According to Mize, the vehicle received substantial damage after striking a tree.

Hunter arrived on scene and advised he would get a wrecker to tow the vehicle as it was inoperable.

Fingerprints were taken off of the vehicle and evidence was collected at the scene.

This case is still under investigation.
