Stolen leaf blower returned to Toccoa business, suspect arrested

Toccoa Police were recently dispatched to Dairy Queen, on Big A Road, in reference to a theft.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, officers were able to review surveillance video that recorded the theft of an 18-volt Ryobi leaf blower from the parking area.

Mize says the video showed a red Chevy Cavalier stop beside the blower and then drive off.

Using the tag number from the video, a BOLO of the suspect’s vehicle was issued to the city and county.

Mize says the following day, a Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle on Davis Road, and performed a traffic stop.

The suspect is identified as Jason Robert Laport.

During the stop, Laport confessed to taking the blower and was arrested for theft by taking.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail and the blower was returned to Dairy Queen.
