Stephens County’s Polar Express starts this week

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners is gearing up for the 2022 Polar Express.

As WNEG News previously reported, this is the third consecutive year for the Polar Express.

Stephens County Commissioner Michelle Ivester says the Polar Express will have additional routes due to increase popularity.

“On November 28th we’ll be going to Nursing Homes, Day Cares, and Avita, then on November 30th, we’ll be at the Elementary Schools and that night will be our first official night, and it’ll be a church night,” she said.

Ivester says they’ve added a Saturday route for the neighborhoods with the most children.

“We’ll have routes on December 1, December 7, December 8, December 10, December 14, and December 15. We added a Saturday route for the neighborhoods with the most children so they won’t have to be out so late on a school night,” she said.

Ivester says this year they have partnered with Food2Kids and will be collecting financial and food donations during the routes.

Additionally, Ivester says you can track the Polar Express by following the Stephens County Emergency Management Facebook page.
