Stephens County Voters cast ballots for SPLOST VIII

On Tuesday, November 4, Stephens County voters cast ballots for SPLOST VIII by a margin of 1,840 for and 611 against the continuation of the existing one-cent sales tax. Stephens County Administrator Christian Hamilton is glad that voters saw the benefits of continuing SPLOST.

SPLOST is not a new tax. It targets all visitors to the county who spend money in the county. Stephens County Commission Chair Tara Simmons appreciates voters approving it again.

SPLOST has been in place in Stephens County for nearly 40 years. It helps lower property taxes by using money from retail and online purchases made in Stephens County to fund vital community projects.
