Stephens County staff set to begin abandonment process for Poole Lane

During the recent meeting of the Stephens County Board of Commissioners, Stephens County resident Marsha Geary requested the board abandon Poole Lane.

As part of her request, Geary argued that Poole Lane is now only being used as a cut-through for motorist.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, Geary is the only resident who lives off of Poole Lane.

Because the board is required to hold two public hearings prior to officially abandoning the road, no motion was made; however, the board did instruct County officials to begin the abandonment process.

The board will hold the public hearings at a forthcoming meeting, where residents can speak in favor of or in opposition to abandoning Poole Lane.

Poole Lane connects Currahee Lane to Old Carnes Creek Road.
