Stephens County plays Crisp County in First Round of State Varsity Football Playoffs Tonight

The Stephens County Indians will play in the first round of the state AA playoffs tonight as they travel down to Cordele to take on Crisp County.  Kickoff will be at 7:30. Crisp County is seeded number 14 and has a record of 4-6 from Region 3-AA.  Stephens County is 5-5 and is seeded number 19.  Both teams had last Friday off.  Stephens County ended their season 2 weeks ago with a 49-34 win at home over East Jackson.  Crisp County ended their regular season with a win at Cook, 33-7.  This is the first meeting between the two teams.    

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County Wingbacks Coach Gordon Thigpen said the Indians and Crisp County have some similarities.  

Tonight’s coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG will start at 6:30 with the Indian Road Show.  Coach’s Corner with Head Coach Thomas Flowers will follow at 7 with pre-game coverage live from Cordele at 7:15.

In the other 1st round playoff games tonight involving Region 8-AA teams, Franklin County visits Callaway, Hart County travels to Appling County, and East Jackson plays at Columbia.   

Other area teams playing tonight in the 1st round of state playoffs, Habersham Central hosts Statesboro, Jefferson hosts Dougherty, North Hall hosts Mt. Zion-Jonesboro, Rabun County hosts Dodge County, and Elbert County hosts Oglethorpe County.
