Stephens County Now over 300 total in Positive Covid-19 cases

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County now has had 322 cases of COVID-19.

To date, Stephens County has had six deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

The latest report was released Sunday.

DPH is reporting that Habersham County has had 761 positive cases of the virus and now 41 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 2,887 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 379 tests have come back positive with 309 patients receiving positive results, 2,310 received negative results, and 198 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, 146 patients that have been treated for COVID-19 at Stephens County Hospital or its other facilities have now fully recovered.

Hester adds that they currently have two patients hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with confirmed case of COVID-19.

Beginning Monday, July 13 Stephens County Hospital will be hosting a drive-through testing site once per week (every Monday) at differing locations around town. There is no doctor’s order required, but they ask that you please arrive with an ID and your insurance card if you have insurance. The testing site will be open from 8am to noon on Mondays and the schedule is listed below:

  • July 13: Mable Thomas Scott Senior Center 55 Rose lane Park Drive, Toccoa
  • July 20: Mount Zion Baptist Church on Whitman Street, Toccoa
  • July 27: The Pointe Church, 4387 Ga-17 Toccoa

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 156 cases and one death, Rabun County has 81 cases and three deaths, Franklin County has 261 cases and one death, and Hart County has 113 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 116,926 cases, of those, 13,259 have been hospitalized and 3,001 have died from complications of the virus.
