Stephens County Lady Indians will face Oconee County today in high school softball

The Stephens County Lady Indians snatched the lead late in the game for a 4 to 3 victory over Oconee County on Tuesday in their first game of the Region 8-AAAA softball tournament at Madison County.

The game was tied at three with the Lady Indians batting in the top of the eighth when Jasmine Lowery hit a solo homer.

Aly Singletary pitched the Lady Indians to victory. She went eight innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out seven.

Stephens County tallied ten hits on the day. Lowery, Kasey Westmoreland, and Kaylin Snyder all collected multiple hits with Lowery going 3-for-5 at the plate.

In the second game, Stephens County lost to the regular season champs, Madison County, 10 to 1.

The Lady Indians will have to face Oconee County again Thursday at 2, who defeated St. Pius in an elimination game Tuesday afternoon, 9 to 2.

The winner will advance to play Madison County for the Region title and is guaranteed a home state playoff series next week.
