Stephens County Lady Indians Notch Another Win
The Stephens County Lady Indians picked up the 6th win of the season on Wednesday night with a 39-27 road victory at Pendleton, South Carolina.
The Lady Indians took a 20-10 lead into the half behind 14 first half points by Lanesia Verdell. Verdell was plagued by foul trouble in the 2nd half, but Aleah Curry stepped up with 11 2nd half points and finished with 14 in the game.
Alexis Mattress finished with 13 points for Pendleton now 2-6 on the season.
The Lady Indians, coming off a 60-41 loss to West Oak on Tuesday, improved to 6-5 with the win.
In the boys’ contest, Pendleton led by 7 after the 1st quarter and 12 at the half and rolled to a 64-42 win.
Pendleton placed three players in double figures led by Samuel Ross with 19 and improved to 5-6 on the season.
Stephens County, coming off a 49-40 loss to West Oak on Tuesday, was led by Jayden Haynie with 16 points and Colsen Ivey added 15 points.
The Indians fall to 2-8 on the season.
The Indians and Lady Indians will play at Habersham Central on Friday night with the girls’ action starting at 7 P.M. Airtime on WNEG is set for 6:45 P.M.
