Stephens County falls to Prince Avenue Christian in Varsity Football

It was a tough road trip for the Stephens County Indians as they lost to the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines, 55-17, in Bogart Friday night, October 3, in varsity football action.

Prince Avenue scored a touchdown on their second offensive play of the game, a 42-yard pass from Ben Musser to Hudson Hill. 

On their next possession, Musser ran 49-yards for a score, giving the Wolverines an early 14-0 lead.

The Indians answered by driving the length of the field, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Dallas Hague to make the score 14-7.

Then Prince Avenue scored on a 3-yard run by Andrew Beard to go up 20-7.

The highlight of the night for Stephens County came early in the second quarter when senior kicker Luke Waters booted a 53-yard field goal, tying a school record set in the 1990s by Brad Chambers.

The field goal made the score Prince Avenue 20 – Stephens County 10.

In the second quarter, Musser threw Beard a screen pass, and then he took it 31-yards for a touchdown to go up 27-10.

The Wolverines’ backup quarterback, Gavin Hollum, then connected with Hill on an 11-yard touchdown pass, making it 34-10.

Then Musser connected with CJ Dockery on an 11-yard touchdown pass to give Prince Avenue a 41-10 lead over Stephens County at the half.

In the third quarter, Musser threw another touchdown pass, this time to Brice Williamson for 20-yards, making it Prince Avenue 48 – Stephens County 10.

There was no quit in the Indians as they drove the field and scored on a 1-yard run by Hague, his second touchdown of the game, to make it 48-17.

Prince Avenue added another touchdown on a 2-yard run by Jackson Bentley to make the final score, Prince Avenue 55 – Stephens County 17.

Stephens County falls to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 8-AA. 

Prince  Avenue improves to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 8-AA.
