Stephens County Commissioner clears up Misunderstanding about Proposed SPLOST Projects
Stephens County Commissioner Tara Simmons clears up a misunderstanding about proposed projects to be funded with the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax or SPLOST VIII if approved by voters.
SPLOST has been in place for nearly 40 years in Stephens County. It helps lower property taxes by using money from retail and online purchases made in Stephens County to fund vital community projects. It reduces the need for higher property taxes and ensures that everyone who spends money in Stephens County helps support the county’s future.
Today is Election Day, and voting takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse located at 37 West Tugalo Street in Toccoa.
