Stephens County Board of Elections approves ESPLOST Resolution for May 19th Election
On Tuesday, February 3, the Stephens County Board of Elections approved the ESPLOST Resolution, says Stephens County Elections Supervisor Isaac Overstreet.
ESPLOST is the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, which is not a new tax. It is the renewal of a one-cent sales tax for education purposes that has been in place since 1998. Stephens County Schools Superintendent Dr. Connie Franklin gives details.
The referendum on ESPLOST is scheduled for the May 19th election.
ESPLOST revenue may only be used to support capital projects in the Stephens County School System.
