Stephens County 911 launches Countywide AED Registry to support Cardiac Emergency Response

Stephens County 911 Launches Countywide AED Registry to Support Cardiac Emergency Response

Stephens County 911 is proud to announce the launch of the Stephens County Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Registry, a new initiative designed to help save lives during cardiac emergencies by connecting 911 telecommunicators with critical AED location information throughout the community.

The registry is being developed in accordance with Georgia Senate Bill 399, the Mason Sells AED Coordination Act, which encourages coordination between AED owners and emergency communications centers to improve emergency response capabilities.

Businesses, schools, churches, government agencies, community organizations, and private citizens who own or maintain an AED are encouraged to register their device with Stephens County 911.

During a cardiac arrest emergency, every second matters. Immediate CPR and rapid access to an AED can significantly increase a person’s chance of survival. By maintaining an up-to-date registry of AED locations, Stephens County 911 telecommunicators may be able to direct callers to nearby lifesaving equipment while emergency responders are en route.

“Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere and at any time,” said Danielle Rhodes, Director of Stephens County 911 and Emergency Management. “This registry will allow us to better serve our citizens by identifying available AEDs throughout the county and providing potentially lifesaving information during an emergency. We encourage all AED owners to participate in this important initiative.”

AED registration is free, and information submitted will be maintained by Stephens County 911 for emergency response purposes. Participants will be asked to provide basic information about the AED, including its location, accessibility, and contact information to ensure records remain current.
