Stephens Co. Schools Add Pre-K Class at Eastanollee
The Stephens County School System expands its Pre-K program at Eastanollee Elementary School.
Last month, Stephens County School Superintendent Sherrie Whiten announced that the school system had obtained funding to add a second Pre-K class at Eastanollee Elementary.
Whiten said that the school system has plenty of demand to fill the class immediately.
“We have quite a large waiting list down at Eastanollee for Pre-K for a second class, which we had years ago but we had to give up,” said Whiten. “We inquired if it would be a possibility to add a second class next year and were told that if we wanted to add it now, ‘Bright from the Start’ had money to give us to go ahead and start a new class.”
Whiten went on to say that the second Pre-K class will come at no cost to the school system.
“The money comes from ‘Bright from the Start’, which is Georgia Pre-K,” said Whiten.
Whiten said this is a great opportunity to get more students into Pre-K in Stephens County.
“So many studies have shown that having kids in Pre-K makes such a difference, not only when they are in Pre-K, but all the way through their school careers,” said Whiten.
The Stephens County Board of Education also gave its thumbs up to adding the class at its meeting last month.
