Stephens Co. Hospital Welcomes New Year’s Baby

new year babyStephens County Hospital welcomes its New Year’s Baby and it’s a boy!

The hospital introduced the first baby born at the facility in 2014 on Friday.

Jase Emerson Strickland was born on January 1 at 6:13 a.m. to Maranda Westbrook of Eastanollee and Evan Strickland of Martin.

Maranda said she is excited to be a mom.

“It is wonderful,” she said.  “It is good.”

She said that it is also exciting to have the New Year’s Baby.

“It was crazy because he was not expected to be a New Year’s baby,” she said.  “He was expected two days earlier.”

Evan said he is also excited to be a first-time dad.

“It was stressful, but it was worth it,” he said.  “It is a miracle.”

Jase is 20 1/4 inches and weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

The maternal grandparents are Jackie and William Dunson and the paternal grandparents are Joe and Delores Strickland.

The maternal great-grandparents are Bill and Peggy Westbrooks and the paternal great-grandparents are Jeanette Strickland and the late Charles Strickland and the late Alice and Bruce Moseley.

The attending physician was Dr. Brian Raybon and the attending midwife was Shana DeLoach, while the attending pediatrician was Dr. Kimberly Stroud.

The mom’s nurse was Kristy Ansley and the baby’s nurse was Angela Welborn.

Stephens County Hospital and the Hospital Auxiliary presented the proud parents with a gift basket.
