State Releases Stephens Co. December Unemployment Figures

Preliminary state unemployment figures are out for Stephens County for the month of December.

According to those figures from the state’s Labor Department, Stephens County had a 6.2 percent preliminary unemployment rate for December.

That is unchanged from the revised November rate, which was also 6.2 percent. It is eight-tenths of a percentage point lower than the revised December 2013 rate, which was 7 percent.

Stephens County’s total labor force for December is listed at 12,759.

That is down from November, when it was 12,920 and almost right at the labor force figure for December 2013, which was 12,760.

In the month of December, the Labor Department lists 11,973 individuals in Stephens County as employed.

That is less than November’s figure of 12,119 and a little higher than the December 2013 figure of 11,865.

Looking elsewhere around the area, Franklin County saw its preliminary unemployment rate drop four-tenths of a percentage point in December to 6.8 percent; Habersham County’s preliminary unemployment rate went up two-tenths of a percentage point in December to 6.2 percent; and Banks County saw its preliminary unemployment rate stay at an even 5 percent in December.
