Split Shot to headline Ida Cox Music Series this weekend in Toccoa

Main Street Toccoa will host another installment of the Ida Cox Summer Music Series this weekend in Toccoa-Stephens County.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby says this week’s concert will feature headlining act Split Shot.

Split Shot is a Classic Rock band based out of Cleveland, Georgia.

Crosby says Main Street Toccoa is expecting another successful concert.

She adds that Main Street Toccoa will continue to encourage social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Additionally, Crosby says anyone unable to attend the concert on Saturday can live stream the event by going to the Main Street Toccoa Facebook page.

The series is named for Ida Cox, who was born Ida Prather in Toccoa before going off to make her mark in the music world in the first part of the 20th century.

She started as a vaudeville performer and was one of the pioneers of what we now know as the blues.

The series features different musical genres each week—from country to jazz.

The weekly Saturday concerts are free and feature an opening act and a headline act from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Toccoa on Doyle Street between Sage and Pond Streets.

The annual summer music series was delayed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the series will now run from July until the last Saturday in September.
