Softball Wraps – Lady Indians and Lady Rebels
Nyleigh Hutto drove in five runs on four hits to lead the Stephens County Lady Indians past the Hart County Lady Bulldogs 14-2 on Tuesday. Hutto doubled in the second scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, singled in the third scoring one, and singled in the fourth scoring one.
Stephens County got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Hutto singled, scoring one run, Carson Stowe doubled, scoring one run, and Riley Walker tripled, scoring two runs.
A double by Hutto extended the Lady Indians’ lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning, and the team scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. Hallee Shirley singled, scoring two runs, Fayeth Ivester doubled, scoring two runs, and Hutto singled, scoring one run.
Walker led things off in the circle for Stephens County, surrendering four hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking two.
The Lady Indians amassed 14 hits in the game. Stowe, Kylee Glaze, and Shirley each collected multiple hits and Glaze stole two of the team’s five stolen bases.
The Lady Indians are now 15 and 2 on the season. The Lady Indians trounced East Jackson last night, 19-1 and are now 16 and 2 on the season. WNEG Sports will provide a recap of that game once stats are made available.
Meanwhile, in other softball action, the Stephens County Middle School Lady Rebels beat Elbert County on Wednesday, 12-0.
The Lady Rebels got on the board in the top of the first inning after Karlie Brady was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Emma Powell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ella Fletcher singled, scoring two runs.
Stephens County added two more scores to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Elbert County committed an error and Mailey Addison singled.
The Lady Rebels scored six runs on two hits in the top of the fourth inning. An error scored one run, Paiton Allen drew a walk, scoring one run, Mailey Addison singled, scoring one run, Kacey Wallace drew a walk, scoring one run, and Alana Thurmond was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Kacey Wallace earned the win for the Lady Rebels, surrendering three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking none.
Ella Fletcher, the number eight hitter for Stephens County, led the way with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Mailey Addison set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Lady Rebels with two hits in two at bats. Kacey Wallace collected three of the team’s 12 walks, and Mailey Addison stole two bases.
