Slate, Bell Lead Indians To Win Over Lions

The Stephens County Indians used strong pitching from Josh Slate and a good offensive game from catcher Logan Bell to beat the Franklin County Lions 4-1 Monday in Carnesville.

Stephens County jumped ahead early when Franklin County’s Jesse Thomas booted a ground ball hit by Slate.

Then, Bell gave the Indians the lead for good with a two-out, two RBI double in the top half of the second inning.

Slate was stellar on the mound, pitching 5 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball.  He recorded 13 strikeouts and walked just two.

Mason Long came on to record the final five outs for the Indians.

For the game, Bell went 2 for 3 with a double, single, three RBIs, and a stolen base.

Also, Davis McCall reached base safely in three of his four plate appearances and Mason Long added two hits for the Indians

Stephens County improves to 4-1 on the season with the win.

The Indians will look to take the season series from Franklin County Wednesday when they host the Lions at the Reservation.
