Shooting Reported in Lake Hartwell Area

Franklin County authorities are investigating a shooting Friday evening near Lake Hartwell.

WNEG News has learned it happened around 6:30p near Catfish Lane off  Poplar Springs Road in Lavonia.

“We are working what appears to be a white male who has been shot,” Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas told WNEG News.  “He was flown to Greenville and is undergoing surgery.”

Thomas said he has requested the assistance from the GBI Crime Scene Unit.

No word on what led to the shooting nor the identity of the victim.
