Sheriff Randy Shirley Details SCSO Severe Weather Response

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for the storms that will affect Stephens and surrounding counties beginning Thursday afternoon with more intensity after midnight Friday morning.

Throughout the week, deputies will be assisting with severe weather impacts by monitoring weather and road conditions. Roads impacted will be reported to the Stephens County 911 Center and local media to update the public of any hazards.

Deputies will be equipped to help County Public Works through the Sheriff’s Inmate Crew, along with patrol deputies who will be able to help clear small trees, limbs, and debris from roadways.

They will also be able to assist citizens trapped in their homes. If needed, deputies will provide courtesy transportation for public safety and healthcare workers.

We advise everyone to remain in their homes until the storm passes. If you have a tree down that is blocking the roadway, please call (706) 779-3911 to report it. Moreover, we urge citizens to take all weather alerts and precautions seriously. Monitor weather reports, including statements from the National Weather Service, Georgia Emergency Management Agency & Homeland Security, Stephens County 911 & Emergency Management,
the Sheriff’s Office, and local media outlets. We will provide updates as they become available.

Please have a safe place for your outside pets, as these possible catastrophic events include high winds and heavy flooding.

Stay safe, and remember to call 911 for all emergencies. Call (706) 779-3911 for non-emergencies. For outages, contact your local power and Internet providers.
