Seneca man faces assault and battery charges –both high and aggravated

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, in South Carolina, recently issued a press release regarding an arrest made on a Seneca man on multiple charges, including assault and battery – high and aggravated.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Cody Brandon Herring of Stoney Road, over the Christmas Holiday.

Herring was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:58 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23.

He was charged with one count each of assault and battery – third degree, assault on a police officer while resisting arrest and malicious injury to real property.

At this time, Herring remains in custody at the Detention Center on a combined $65,000 surety bond.

Herring will also be required to wear an electronic monitoring device upon release as a condition of bond.

A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on N. Pond Fork Road in the Westminster area the afternoon of Friday, December 22nd in regards to a disturbance in which Herring had reportedly assaulted a former family member of his and a 16-year-old male.

After the initial altercation took place and the suspect was outside, Herring then made entry into the residence via a window and a door.

The victims heard glass breaking and Herring then damaged a door to a room of the residence where the family was located.

Herring left the residence and was located by the responding deputies.

Herring refused officer commands and kept his hands in his pockets.

Herring was eventually taken into custody but deputies had to deploy their Taser’s due to Herring’s resistance and not producing his hands as deputies tried to place handcuffs on him.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to check the victims as well as Herring.  In the process of being checked, Herring charged at one of the deputies after jumping out of a patrol vehicle.

Herring was secured back in the patrol vehicle but continued to be combative, he was then transported to the detention center.
