Sen. Wilkinson receives honorary lifetime membership
State Sen. John Wilkinson has another honor under his belt.
Wilkinson was recently recognized by the Peace Officers Association of Georgia (POAG) with an honorary lifetime membership for his dedication to public safety and support of peace officers across Georgia.
Association President Dennis Bell presented Senator Wilkinson with the award.
Bell says over the years Wilkinson has been a staunch supporter of law enforcement.
The Peace Officers Association of Georgia is the state’s oldest and largest law enforcement organization and includes local, state and federal officers of all ranks and duties.
According to their mission statement, the Peace Officers Association of Georgia Foundation was created to provide a charitable means for individuals, organizations and corporations to donate funds, time and resources toward the enhancement of the peace officer’s life, safety, education, job responsibilities and heritage.
Bell says Wilkinson’s commitment to law enforcement exemplifies that.
For his part, Wilkinson tells WNEG News he is honored to be recognized by the Peace Officers Association of Georgia.
He said law enforcement officers don’t always get the recognition and support they deserve and he looks forward to supporting them in any way he can in the future.
