Season Ends for Indians

The 2019-2020 basketball season came to an end for the Stephens County Indians boys basketball team on Tuesday night in the Region-8 AAAA tournament in Atlanta.

The Oconee County Warriors scored the first 8 points of the game and never trailed rolling to a 61-50 win over Stephens County.

Oconee County’s Donell Randolph scored 14 of his game high 25 points in the 2nd half leading four Warriors that scored in double figures.

Kenny Colwell scored 12 points and Javian Hightower scored 10 to lead the Indians.

The Indians finish the season with a record of 7-19. Oconee County improves to 16-9, advances to the Region-8 Tournament semi-final, and secures a spot in the AAAA State Playoffs.

It was the final game for 4 Stephens County seniors: Chris Sinclair, Mucha Trimier, DJ Jones, and Kenny Davis.

Earlier in the evening the St. Pius girls won a 47-44 overtime thriller over North Oconee.

St. Pius now advances to face the top-seeded Stephens County Lady Indians on Thursday.

The Region-8 tournament semi-final games will all be played at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville. The schedule is as follows:

4 P.M. (girls) Madison County vs. Oconee County
5:30 P.M. (boys) Madison County vs. North Oconee
7 P.M. (girls) Stephens County vs. St. Pius
8:30 P.M. (boys) St. Pius vs. Oconee County
