SDOC response to Law Enforcement Activity at Northside Elementary School

By Jennifer Dodd, Public Information Officer for the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) in South Carolina

In response to a loud sound near campus, Northside Elementary School initiated a Code Red using the school’s Centegix security system. Local law enforcement responded immediately and has since determined the sound was likely caused by a vehicle backfiring. Out of an abundance of caution, students have remained inside and additional law enforcement officers will remain on campus during dismissal.

The SDOC is grateful to the Seneca Police Department and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office for their swift response and continued partnership in ensuring the safety of students and staff.
