SCSO arrest two men after narcotics investigation

An Eastanollee man and a Mt. Airy man were arrested recently by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, the arrests occurred during an ongoing investigation of narcotics trafficking, as well as an arrest warrant for an individual inside the residence.

Shirley says deputies along with K-9 Reba and K-9 Dexter responded to a Stephens County address, upon arrival, deputies met two individuals inside the residence, Dennis Scroggs and Timmy Key.

Upon searching Scroggs, he was found to have a quantity of methamphetamine which was located in his pocket.

The on-call investigator was contacted and a search warrant was executed at the residence.

During the search of the bathroom, K-9 Dexter gave an alert on the bathtub.

Deputies were able to move the tub and located a storage area.

They recovered heroin, quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, packaging materials, and digital scales.

Dennis Mitchell Scroggs, age 48, of Eastanollee, is currently incarcerated in the Stephens County Jail for Trafficking Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and a probation warrant.

Timmy Junior Key, age 45, of Mount Airy is currently incarcerated in the Stephens County Jail charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, as well as a bench warrant.
