SCSO arrest two following months-long investigation

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office made two arrests following the execution of a search warrant.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on March 3, deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office S.T.I.N.G. Unit executed a search warrant at 91 Cheek Smith Road based on an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine.

The investigation was conducted over the course of two months.

Shirley says during the course of the investigation approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine was purchased from Kenneth Stacy Mize, 41, of Toccoa.

During the execution of the search warrant an additional 10 grams of methamphetamine along with digital scales, packaging materials, and $2,968 in cash were seized.

Mize’s vehicle was also seized along with 9 firearms.

Mize was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine and 9 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Stephens County Jail on a denied bond.

Timothy Steele, 53, of Toccoa, was also arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and 9 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Steele is currently being held at the Stephens County Jail on a denied bond.
