Scott and Broska Sign to Play at Next Level

Two Stephens County High School athletes will be taking their talents to the college level next year.

Last Friday, Jarrett Scott, son of Doug and Elizabeth Scott, held a signing ceremony to attend and play soccer at Piedmont College in Demorest.

Jarrett was a member of the Indians’ varsity soccer team for 4 years playing forward and mid-fielder. He made All-Region 2nd team in 2018. He said he had other offers, but Piedmont was his choice. “I got offers from Piedmont, Young Harris, and Truett-McConnell. I chose Piedmont because of the relationship with the coach and I really like the school and the field.”

Jarrett plans to study marketing at Piedmont.

Another Stephens County senior signed Tuesday as Troy Broska will be going to Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina, to play tennis.

Troy is the son of Gwen and Bryan Broska, and has been on the varsity tennis team for 4 years playing doubles, and was also on the Indians cross country team. He also made All-Region Honorable Mention this year. He said he likes the small campus of Brevard College. “It’s a small, private school—it was not huge. I liked that you can walk from the criminal justice building to the math building in less than a 3 minute walk. It’s based on a community and the community is close-knit.”

Troy is planning to major in criminal justice at Brevard College.
