SCMS Rebels Win Championship
The Stephens County Middle School Rebels won the NEGIAA football conference championship Thursday night in Tyger.
The Rebels avenged a loss earlier in the season to Rabun County with a convincing 30 to 7 victory.
Stephens County scored first with a touchdown run by Javin Gordon. The 2-point conversion failed.
After a Rabun County fumble, Gordon tossed a touchdown pass to Aaron Scott. The two-point conversion pass to Everett Rudeseal made the score 14 to 0 at the end of the first quarter.
Rabun County got on the board with a 60-yard punt return in the second quarter. But the Rebels answered a few minutes later with a 95-yard punt return by Aaron Scott. The Rebels capped it off with a two-point conversion and led 22 to 7 at halftime.
After no scoring in the third quarter, the Rebels put the final points on the board with a Gordon run and another 2-point conversion pass reception by Rudeseal in the 4th quarter for the final tally.
Stephens County completes their season with a 7 & 1 record.
