By Stephens County Middle School Head Football Coach Phoenix Roberts
The Stephens County Middle School (SCMS) Rebels football team has been working hard during the summer, reports first-year Head Coach Phoenix Roberts. The Rebels have completed summer workouts that took place three days a week since June 1, minus the dead week, focusing on strength and conditioning. They completed their first week of official practice last week, which started on July 20, and completed their heat acclimatization period. The Rebels started two-a-days mini camp on Monday, July 27, and it runs through Wednesday, July 29, each from 1:30-6:30 p.m. The Rebels have an early and late afternoon practice, and between the practices, they break for a rest, refueling, food, film, and a guest speaker each day. The Rebels will resume a normally scheduled practice on Thursday, July 30, from 4-6:30 p.m. They open their season with a home scrimmage against West Hall on August 5, at 5:30 p.m. at The Reservation.
