SCMS Basketball Splits with Hart

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels Basketball teams had their home openers on Thursday vs. Hart County Middle School with both boys teams winning and girls teams losing.

The SCMS 7th grade boys jumped out to a 22-9 lead after one quarter and held on for a 54-50 win over the Hart 7th grade. Javin Gordon led all scorers with 23 points, Semaj Walker and Brock Tankersley were also in double figures with 13 and 10 points. The Rebels also got 4 points from Andrew Keown and 2 each from Jet Black and Tripp Underwood. The 7th grade Rebels improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Rebels 8th grade boys evened their record at 1-1 with a 42-37 win over Hart. Aaron Scott led the Rebels with 17 points, Devin Cobb added 7 points, Jasec Smith scored 6, and Ethan Smith 4 for the 8th grade Rebels.

The 7th grade Lady Rebels fell to Hart County 35-27. Carson Stowe led the Lady Rebels with 10 points, Fayeth Ivester added 8 points, Lanesia Verdell 5, and 2 each from Savannah Smith and Maddison McGee. The 7th Grade Lady Rebels are now 1-1.

The 8th Grade Lady Rebels fell 48-29 to Hart County. Samiea Scott led the Lady Rebels scoring with 12 points, Dariyah Bell added 9 points, Tytiunna Tukes 6 and Aurora Elrod 2. The 8th grade Lady Rebels are also 1-1.

With the Thanksgiving break next week, all of the Stephens County Middle School teams will be off until December 3rd when they travel to Elberton to face Elbert County.
