SCMS 7th Grade Boys Remain Undefeated

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels 7th grade boys basketball team battled back from 9 points down in the 4th quarter to defeat Hart County Middle School 44-39 in Hartwell on Monday.

Brock Tankersley knocked in two free throws with 11 seconds to go in the game to give the Rebels the lead, then Javin Gordon scored two buckets on a layup and a steal and score for the final tally.

The Rebels were 8 for 9 at the free throw line in the decisive 4th quarter.

Gordon led the Rebels scoring 29 of the 44 points, including 14 in the decisive 4th quarter. Tripp Underwood added 8 points for the Rebels, Andrew Keown 3, and Jet Black and Tankersley with 2 each.

The SCMS 7th grade boys remain undefeated at 7-0 on the season.

Things did not go as well for the Rebels other three teams.

The 7th grade girls lost in the final seconds 34-32. Lanesia Verdell led the Lady Rebels with 14 points, and Fayeth Ivester and Savannah Smith added 9 each.

The 7th grade Lady Rebels fall to 2-5 on the season.

The Lady Rebels 8th grade girls fell to Hart County 45-23. Dariyah Bell led the 8th grade Lady Rebels with 9 points, Tytiunna Tukes, Jaziya Harbin, and Samiea Scott had 4 each, and Aurora Elrod added 2.

The 8th grade Lady Rebels fall to 4-3 on the season.

The Hart County 8th grade boys were impressive rolling to a 54-20 win over SCMS.

The Rebels were led in scoring by Nuri Winters with 10 points, Aaron Scott had 6, Jasec Smith 4, and Soloman Dupree 2.

The SCMS 8th grade boys are now 5-2.

The Rebels basketball teams will now be off until January 9th when they host Elbert County.
