SCHS’s Carter signs Archery Scholarship
By Ken Brady
Stephens County High School (SCHS) held a ceremony on Tuesday, May 19, in the Legacy Room for Justin Carter to sign a scholarship with Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs to join their Archery Team.
It is believed that Carter is the first SCHS student to sign a scholarship for archery.
Carter, son of Teresa and Patrick Carter, has been in archery for over 10 years, and finished fourth in 3-D Archery State Competition this season for bow hunter classification.
Carter says why he is going to Emmanuel University.
Archery at SCHS is considered a Club Sport. Head Coach Karrie Perrin helped get the archery program started back last year after being inactive for a couple of years. She says she is really proud of Justin.
Carter plans to major in biology with a pre-vet emphasis in hopes of becoming a livestock veterinarian.
